Find the distance between the pair of parallel lines, y = -2x+1 & y = -2x+16.

OpenStudy (imstuck):

Since the lines are parallel, the distance between them is simply the distance between the y coordinates. One has a y intercept of 1 and the other has a y intercept of 16, so 16 - 1 = 15 vertical units.
