An airplane is 28 miles from the airport, and ready to begin its descent. It is still 4 miles above the ground. Precise equations are activated that allow it to approach the airport safely. Moving along a linear path, the plane descends to an altitude of 3 miles above ground and 16 miles from the airport. Taking on a new trajectory, the airplane continues its descent, until it is just a mile above ground and 8 miles from the airport. Following its final trajectory determined by a precise equation, the plane comes in for a landing.
