Solve each system of equations. Show your work. 1. -2x + 3y = 8 3x – y = -5 Okay, so the answers I got don't seem right so I just want you guys to check them. I got x = -7/11 and y= 33/102 which don't seem like good answers, I don't know. Thanks!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

multiply the first equation with 3 and the second equation with 2, you should get -6x+9y=24 and 6x-2y=-10 solve them to get y=2 and x=-1

OpenStudy (mrnood):

the second equation can be rewritten as y=(3x+5) so in the first equation put (3x+5) as a substitute for y The result will give you a simple solution for x (yours is wrong btw)

yeah i literally have no idea how i got that answer, but i get it now. thank you so much guys! haha
