ok well what I did was.... 3y + 4 = 11y (subtracted 3y from both sides) and then I got 4 = 8y (divided by 8 on both sides) 4/8 = y which is reduced to 1/2 = y

yes y = 1/2 but the question asked for AB so you need to substitute for y to find AB
