Find the value of a and b?

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

@zepdrix can you please quickly help me with this? i need to go to bed soon. :)

zepdrix (zepdrix):

|dw:1405054849901:dw|So you have a bunch of similarities being created. Here are two of the triangles. I rotated the bottom one.

zepdrix (zepdrix):

Do you know how to set up a proportionality to solve for b?

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

nope

zepdrix (zepdrix):

So that smaller triangle is just a scale factor of the larger one. (It has been shrunk down my some factor.) If we look at the ratio at which the hypotenuses changed,|dw:1405055033548:dw|this should be equivalent to the ratio of any other set of sides (since they all are scaled by the same amount).
