B. controlling information its people receive from the outside world.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah that's right. IIRC elections are mandatory, but one one party is legal.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

North Korea is very isolated and cut off from most of the world and has a very corrupt communist government.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you yall both

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, it's commonly called Communist, but there's debate on that. Some people don't believe the Juche ideology is Communist.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hmm. Interesting. I did not know that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Further, although some Communists will try to defend the DPRK from imperialism, few support the model it runs on.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This seems very interesting to me. I should take time to research it later. Do you have any recommendations as far as sources go?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'll have to look up a few.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't mean to make you go out of your way. If it's of any trouble, don't worry about it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

http://www.reddit.com/r/communism101/comments/1y172i/what_exactly_is_juche/cfgmgjj This is a Reddit comment by someone who defends it. If you have a Reddit account, you can pm him and ask him questions. I think he's the unofficial expert on the DPRK among Reddit's Communists. I'll have to look up more critical sources too.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You might check this out, it's a study guide about Juche from the Korean Friendship Association http://www.kfausa.org/juche-idea-study-course-english/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you very much. I will do so.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And here's a blog post which says that Juche has little relationship with Marxism http://aroundthepear.blogspot.com/2013/03/some-thoughts-on-juches-relationship-to.html

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let me know if you want me to look into anything else.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Again thank you, and I'll contact you if I do. :)
