A rectangular prism has length seven meters, width five meters , and volume three hundred fifteen cubic meters. What is the height of the prism? eight meters nine meters twelve meters thirty-five meters
Ok the volumes of a rectangular prism is lwh=v we are given l=7m w=5m and v=31mm^3 so we must plug them into the equation
ok
You can ignore the m for now that is just the label.
k
Can you plug them in the equation? the numbers?
And the v is actually 315 sorry
ill probably know how if i could get an example. My teachers never taught me this stuff -.-
Thanks for taking your time and helping me btw
Oh okay the formula of a rectangular prism to find the volume is to multiply the length, width, and height. Since we are given 3 of these.. we can solve for the 4th one. In the equation v=l*w*h, l= the length of it, w=the width of it and h=the height of it. we are trying to find the height so that will be the unknown we are solving for
So 7 x 5 x 31?
Not quite, what they are saying is 7x5xh=315
Ahh. Got it. Sorry.
Do you know where to go from there then?
well we know 7x5 is 35
Yes now if 35h=315, what must you do to find h, you must do the opposite so what is the opposite of multiplication?
9
division
That's correct good job!
h=9meters!
Thanks! Mind helping me with some other ones?
Sure
