OpenStudy (anonymous):

Catabolic reactions release energy. Much of this energy is used to Question 1 options: generate heat to stay warm. burn fat. increase the speed of digestion. support anabolic reactions. dissipate kinetic energy.

What do u think it should be ?

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Which do you think it is? Why or why not? It would be easier to tutor you if you explained what about the question is giving you trouble.

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

let us break down the word into etymology catabolic refers to catalyst and catalyst refers to substances that lowers the activation energy (it doesn't necessarily make ALL reaction faster or increase the rate of reaction) and provide a different pathway for a reaction to occur. IF the breaking of the barrier for activation energy is put as a function of time, then the reaction with catalyst will likely take place sooner than without it. Again, catalysts lowers activation energy. Think of it like climbing a mountain just to roll down on the other side, if you were to climb the Mt. Everest versus a not so tall mountain, I think you'd be able to roll down sooner with the shorter mountain :) I hope this analogy helps
