yep, its not straightforward like differentiation. you need to guess and you will get good at it only by practice

Maybe.. but have faith in your professor... he will be giving simple integrals for which you can guess the substitution easily if you think a bit...

Exactly ! if you can work below integral using substitution, then you can work ANY substitution integral : \[\large \int 2x e^{x^2} dx\]
