What is the area of the semicircle in this composite figure rounded to the nearest hundredth? 3.53 ft2 7.07 ft2 28.26 ft2 14.13 ft2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (driftracer305):

done.......k so what's area of circle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

um..

OpenStudy (driftracer305):

dont worry......go no..... m here

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Semicircles im really confused on..

OpenStudy (driftracer305):

no..... what's d area of circle...?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

diameter ?

OpenStudy (driftracer305):

not quite..............do u remember something like pi * r^2......?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Pi times the radius to the power of two?

OpenStudy (driftracer305):

yes.......now that's the area of circle............... a semi-circle is a half-circle......... so just use this formula and divide it by 2........

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How do you find the radius?

OpenStudy (driftracer305):

now if u look closely at the figure.....u'll see that one side of rectangle is 3 ft......now since 2 sides of rectangle are congruent....it is the diameter as well

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So it would be half of 3 ?

OpenStudy (driftracer305):

bingo............

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So 3.14 times 1.5 to the power of two?

OpenStudy (driftracer305):

yupp..............and wat did i tell u about the half-circles (semicircle)..? d formula?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you divide it by 2

OpenStudy (driftracer305):

atta girl......... so calculate it and tell me what'd u get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, I took1.5 and I got 2.25, times that by 3.14 and got 7.065. THat right so far?

OpenStudy (driftracer305):

yes ma'am...............

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then take 7.065 and divide it by 2?

OpenStudy (driftracer305):

yep uhuh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then you get 3.5325

OpenStudy (driftracer305):

one of ur answer choices??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

eh ive got to round it to the nearest hundred

OpenStudy (driftracer305):

yea so can u do it??

OpenStudy (driftracer305):

u have the answer really.........

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3.53?

OpenStudy (driftracer305):

there you go Ms. Smarty......lol......... u got it finally........!! yay :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have one more question... Then I wont bug you for a bit.. Lol

OpenStudy (driftracer305):

k on one condition...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok?

OpenStudy (driftracer305):

i'll give the answer........dat fine....?? i'll explain later...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay!

OpenStudy (driftracer305):

k hurry up....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its the same figure as this .

OpenStudy (driftracer305):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is the total area of this composite figure rounded to the nearest hundredth?

OpenStudy (driftracer305):

is 39.53 one of the choices??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Heres my choices 18.53 ft2 43.07 ft2 39.53 ft2 20.07 ft2

OpenStudy (driftracer305):

bingo........got it first......it's wat i said

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh my gosh thank you so much!

OpenStudy (driftracer305):

lol.......... ur welcome

OpenStudy (driftracer305):

u good now?? -_-

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For a bit :P haha
