Find the percent error of the measurement 7 cm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what are the answers you have? every measurement has a percent error but is it to the humans eye or the instrument used to measure the object of 7 cm.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7.14% 1% 70% 7%

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If 7 is your only certain number, then it can be written with 2 significant figures, 7.0 - where the .0 is uncertain and is one-tenth of the unit of measure. If the 7 itself is uncertain, then the true value could vary between 6.50 and 7.49. %error = (margin-of-error/measurement)*100%

there needs to be another measurement to get % error

according to my physics teacher you can only be accurate to a tenth of a number. so for example 67465.2 instead of 67465or 1.2 instead of 1.0
