what is an inverse variation?

OpenStudy (armyrangers):

relationship between two variables in which the product is a constant. When one variable increases the other decreases in proportion so that the product is unchanged. If b is inversely proportional to a, the equation is of the form b = k/a (where k is a constant).

OpenStudy (triciaal):

using the example I just gave for direct if a job pays $60 the number of hours times the hourly rate will be $60 it does not matter if you get $10/hr for 6 hours or $15/hr for 4 hr or 12/hr for 5 or 20/hr for 3 as one variable increases the other decreases the product is constant
