I thought I knew what your asking but I just re-read it and I'm confused myself!

Graphing would be advantageous when you have linear functions, meaning no powers. The lines can be graphed with ease and the intersection found. Creamers rule is good for non linear functions, which would be functions with that have powers of 2 or 3 or more. Because graphing a x^2 function by hand would be difficult to have to right accuracy being it is a parabola.
