A concession stand sells slices of pizza and boxes of popcorn. On day 1, the stand sold 7 slices of pizza and 5 boxes of popcorn for $21.50. On day 2, the stand sold 4 slices of pizza and 8 boxes of popcorn for $20. Select the equation that best represents this system. Let x represent slices of pizza and y represent popcorn. 7x + 4y = 20 5x + 8y = 21.50 7x + 5y = 21.50 4x + 8y = 20 4x + 8y = 21.50 7x + 5y = 20 7x + 8y = 21.50 4x + 5y = 20
So the first day, 7 slices of pizza and 5 boxes of popcorn were sold for a total of $21.50. The second say, 4 slices of pizza and 8 boxes of popcorn were sold for $20. Which two equations do you think would best fit this if pizza is x and popcorn is y? I'd like to see what your guess is then I could show why it is/ins't what you think it is. :)
I think it's B
That's what I got too. The first equation show's what you made on the first day, and the second equation shows you what you made on the second day. If you wanted, you could use either graphing, substitution, or elimination to solve for the cost of popcorn and pizza. The other answers just wouldn't really make much sense.
Thank you
No problem. :)
