What was the major issue that kept Dred Scott from getting his freedom? He should have tried when he was in a free state. The Supreme Court ruled that he was not a U.S. citizen of the United States and could not sue. They never should have taken the case to the Supreme Court. He was married. none of the above

What were the key issues in the Lincoln-Douglas debates? Douglas was handsome and Lincoln was ugly. The key issue they debated upon was that Douglas was pro-slavery and Lincoln was anti-slavery. Whether or not to abolish slavery. Who would win the election. Lincoln did not want to see slavery expand. Douglas believed in popular sovereignty.
