Two birds sit at the top of two different trees. The distance between the first bird and a bird-watcher on the ground is 14.1 feet. The distance between the bird-watcher and the second bird is 27.9 feet. What is the angle measure, or angle of depression, between this bird and the bird-watcher? Two trees that are 14 point 1 feet tall with a bird on top of each. Distance between the birds is unknown. Angle of depression between birdwatcher and first bird is 27 point 9 feet. © 2013 Jupiter Images Corporation 30.4 59.6 63.2 87.9

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

lets use some trig SOH CAH TOA sin x = 14.1/27.9

Miracrown (miracrown):

to do this one, we need to know some trig functions we need angle x now, we are given the hypotenuse length and the leg opposite to angle x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so .5?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

yeah but i wouldn't round yet because we still have to take inverse sin to find angle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well i don't know how i'd calculate a number that long?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

just enter it in your calculator sin^-1 (14.1/27.9) put it in degree mode

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay hold on

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do i put my calc in degree mode?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but for the answer i got 30.35633811

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

depends on the calculator...if i was there id show you :)

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

yep

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so is that all you do to solve this?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

yes

thank you so much!
