What are you trying to figure out?

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

1/3y + 1/4 = 5/12 --- multiply everything by 12 4y + 3 = 5 -- subtract 3 from both sides 4y = 5 - 3 4y = 2 -- divide by 4 y = 2/4 -- reduce y = 1/2 OR... 1/3y + 1/4 = 5/12 -- subtract 1/4 1/3y = 5/12 - 1/4 1/3y = 5/12 - 3/12 1/3y = 1/6 y = (1/6) / (1/3) y = 1/6 * 3/1 y = 3/6 -- reduce y = 1/2 it can be solved with or without fractions ...whichever way is easier for you
