What is the smaller one of the two consecutive numbers whose sum is 2,167?

OpenStudy (imstuck):

two consecutive numbers are denoted as x and x + 1, right? So they are asking us to add those together and solve for x, which is the smaller of the 2 numbers.

OpenStudy (zarkon):

I assume you mean consecutive integers divide by two and round down

OpenStudy (imstuck):

x + (x+1)=2167 2x+1=2167 2x=2166 x=1083

OpenStudy (imstuck):

The problem used the terminology "numbers", that's why I used it.

thanks @IMStuck
