Hemophilia is a recessive sex linked human blood disorder that leads to failure of blood to clot normally. One form of hemophilia has been traced to the royal family of England. Assume that the Prince Albert has hemophilia and his wife Victoria does not show any signs of hemophilia. A) How could Prince Albert have hemophilia if his father did not show any signs of hemophilia? Explain B) Anastasia, the daughter of Albert and Victoria, died at a very young age. She was too young to see if she had hemophilia. What were her chances of having hemophilia? Explain.
offspings or progenies carry their parents' traits
it is like a probability that their daughter had hemophilia depending on recessiveness or dominant traits of the parents' condition under study
It is a X-linked disease i.e females will be carriers and males will be effected.
Homozygous females with hemophilia is not viable and dies quickly after birth or mostly in intra uterine life.
Now can u judge the correct answer ?
Why males willl be effected ?
Thanks!
here's a clue of the statement "Hemophilia is a recessive sex linked..." and we can't know unless WE READ our textbook or did a research Rarely, hemophilia can be acquired. "Acquired” means you aren't born with the disorder, but you develop it during your lifetime. This can happen if your body forms antibodies (proteins) that attack the clotting factors in your bloodstream. The antibodies can prevent the clotting factors from working http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/health-topics/topics/hemophilia/causes.html
there is not a straight-forward answer
Males if recieves only one recessive X allele then also it will be diseased because there will be no other X-chromosome to counter it. (males have only one X chromosome. But females have two so they can be carrier and males can not be)
So males carry the X and females Y?
yes
Males carry XY and females carry XX
male: xy female: xx
these things you should've known already if not, please take time READING your textbook or resources online!
u can see...it's like if one of the X of females is affected they will still have an alternate X and hence will only be carriers.
we don't like LAZY people here and specially cheaters
this is why we don't give out direct answers as well even if it is biology/genetics related
FYI I didn't ask for your help okay!!! I'm here to get help not to be "LAZY" Hahahaa I have better things to do...sorry not sorry
