may i get some help please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok,question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Luis simplified the expression shown below. He got an answer of 216 when he should have gotten an answer of 40. Where did Luis go wrong?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can u help me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

something's missing!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if a pic or something else do you have with the question post/attach it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Step 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, i got it ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hello

rvc (rvc):

its correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when we want to solve something like this : a+b.c+d or something like this,we should first do the multiplication and then do the sum! so in the step 4 the student first did the sum (16+2) but she should have done the multiplication (2.12 = 24) so it would be: 24 + 16 = 40 ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no @rvc .

rvc (rvc):

yes u r correct @PFEH.1999

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait whats the awnser

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it step 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks @rvc ;) this question does not have a nymber or something else as an answer! you asked how this happened and i explained that how the answer should be 40 not 216

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i mean on what step did she make a mistake

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4 , i explained ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

did you read this? when we want to solve something like this : a+b.c+d or something like this,we should first do the multiplication and then do the sum! so in the step 4 the student first did the sum (16+2) but she should have done the multiplication (2.12 = 24) so it would be: 24 + 16 = 40 ;) that i posted?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@i_need_help_plz

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry it did not come up i steel need help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

help for what ?!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which of the following expressions has a value of 31?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3 + (9 – 2) × 4 3 + 9 – 2 × 4 (3 + 9) – 2 × 4 (3 + 9) – (2 × 4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A B C D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hellp

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well A is 3 + 9 - 3 x 4 = 3+9-12 = 0 B --> 3+9-2x4 = 3+9 - 8 = 4 can u do the rest? remember: first multiplication and then sum

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for some reason my accumulator keeps coming up as 6 A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh sry my bad :) you;ve written -2 and i wrote -3! it would be: 3 + (9 – 2) × 4 = 3+9-8 = 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can u do the rest? what's you answer for the 3rd one?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OH sry again! it's now 12 in our country and i'm extremely tired :D first we should sovle brackets and then do others! so A would be: 3 + 7x4 = 3+28 = 31!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so: brackets > multilication > sums

OpenStudy (anonymous):

got it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sry i made several mistakes :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@i_need_help_plz

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k but what is the awnser

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A first we should do in the brackets: 9-2 = 7 then it would be : 3+7x4 but then we should do 7x4 = 28 so 3 + 28 = 31 ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cause iam confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so A is the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

shy confused? remember this: brackets > multilication > sums

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh thanks more help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok,ask

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which of the following expressions has a value of 35? (3 + 8) × 4 ÷ 2 – 1 3 + (8 × 4) ÷ 2 – 1 3 + 8 × (4 ÷ 2) – 1 3 + 8 × 4 ÷ (2 – 1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and ÷ is just like * and - is just like + too! so the first one: 3+8 = 11 4/2=2 so 11 x 2 = 22 and 22 - 1 = 21

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can u do the second one?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i can try

OpenStudy (anonymous):

answer is D subtract 2 by 1 tha'tll be 1 now do P.E.M.D.A.S. 8*4=32+3=35 divided by 1= 35

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@KIOwNIOvE DON"T GIVE ANSWER...i'm trying to teach him so that he would understand and solve harder ones and you only give him the answer ???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i didnt just give him the answer if you actually read the response i explained how to do it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you gave him the answer and then explained?? you should explain first so that he would be able to find the answer himself!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

should could but chose not to

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry i just need help with 2 more

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok,u solved this one?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is the value of the expression 7 – 52 × 3 – 43? -36 -11 -132 10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

after solving all these questions i think you're able to solve this one yourself ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first do the -52x3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

52*3=156-43=113-7=?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what's it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

make that a -113

OpenStudy (anonymous):

+7 not -7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats the thing i tried on paper and i could not get it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first tell me what is -52 x 3 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

156-

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so substitute -156!it would be: 7 - 156 - 43 so the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-192

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes it would be -192 but this cannot be seen in answers!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you sure you have copied/typed the question correctly?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry |dw:1405451415202:dw|
