Einstein sought to discover a unified field theory that would explain the behaviour of all fields. What evidence have you seen to suggest that such a theory exists? Is there anything to suggest that it doesn't?
Since many many fields that are described in physics turn out to be somewhat linked, there is only a common sense to suggest that in some level, wether atomical or electromagnetism - ish, everything that humanity observes can be explained. For example if you were to see different fields of physics through food pyramid (don't take this saying for real, though :D ), you might find that butter and icecream might be products of something like milk, therefore nature of both those can be described as a product of milk, rather then two fundamentally non-related things, therefore you come closer to more fundamental aspect of what universse is made of, closer to truth. I hope you get what i say.
thanks!
