[2.02] Choose the procedure you would use to solve the equation 3x + 3 = 24 for x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

subtract 3 from both sides making the problem 3x=21 Divide 21 by 3 to find x

Any choices? But when you solve equations, you do the inverse of everything. You know how PEMDAS works? It's kind of the opposite, instead of dividing and multiply you subtract first then divide.

x=7!? :) @WordGEEK @sunshinesoph

Yup x=7

OpenStudy (aum):

Yes, x = 7. You can quickly put x = 7 in the original equation to double check if it is correct.

OpenStudy (aum):

3x + 3 = 24 3 * 7 + 3 = 24 24 = 24 x = 7 is the correct answer.
