What is the term for enlarging a graph, i.e re-sizing it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it begins with ex- something? >.<

Miracrown (miracrown):

Are you resizing it by modifying the equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, I'm literally just supposed to stretch the x and the y axis. But, there's a name for it, I can't remember >.<

Miracrown (miracrown):

is it expanding?

Miracrown (miracrown):

"Enlarging" might be the term you're looking for, or perhaps just "scaling"

OpenStudy (ikram002p):

ic so if u have y=x^2 how to sketch y=2 x^2 ?

Miracrown (miracrown):

or "dilation"?

Miracrown (miracrown):

I'm not aware of any one standard term for it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oooh, you made me remember, I think it was extrapolation.

Miracrown (miracrown):

haha, great! :)

OpenStudy (ikram002p):

mmm its scalling though

Miracrown (miracrown):

"Extrapolation" can also mean when you extend the line of a graph beyond the given data points.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Miracrown (miracrown):
