\[3h\times3h=3\times h\times3\times h=(3\times3)\times h\times h\]
simplify the numbers in the parentheses, and simplify the h's like this AxA = A^2

thank you.

Do you mind if you answer one more question?
OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):
what did you get as your final answer to this one?

√ great work!
OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):
ok what's the next one?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
My brother gave me this to do. have no clue.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
(x^2 - 16)(x - 3)^2 + 9x^2 = 0
OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):
What is the question that goes with the equation?
Are you trying to simplify? solve for x?
or something else?

solve x
OpenStudy (anonymous):
actually no. Expand. i think.
OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):
ok lets expand (x - 3)^2 first
you can use
(x-a)^2 = (x - a) (x - a)
= x (x-a) - a (x-a)
= x^2 - ax - ax + a^2
= x^2 - 2a + a^2
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yeh.
OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):
whoops
(x-a)^2 = (x - a) (x - a)
= x (x-a) - a (x-a)
= x^2 - ax - ax + a^2
= x^2 - 2ax + a^2
