1.Angelica's service club is selling flowers for a fundraiser. Each flower costs them $0.50 to purchase. They set the sale price of each flower at the purchase price plus 40%. Write and solve an equation to determine how many flowers they will need to sell to make a profit of $500. Use complete sentences to explain what each number and variable in your equation represents. someone??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, so first we need to find what 40% of $0.50 is. To do this, we multiply 0.40*0.50, and we get 0.20. So they sold the flowers for $0.20 more than they bought them. Add that to 0.50 to find what they sold their flowers for. 0.50+0.20=0.70$ Do you know how to solve it now that we know what they sold their flowers for and what the total profit was?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would I 500 by 0.70??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yup, you would just divide 500 by 0.70 now.

and then that's the answer?
