What was the first day like for the nine African American students who volunteered to enroll in Little Rock’s first integrated school? They were barred from entering the school by National Guard troops and rioters. They were allowed in the school and were allowed equal use of all the facilities. They were blocked by rioters but fought their way through. They were allowed in the school but could not eat in the cafeteria or use the bathrooms.
