Which statement is a theme of Jane Eyre A)Staying true to oneself is difficult when ones survival is at stake B) Honesty is the best policy C)A woman's value should not be based solely on appearances D)Unbridled devotion can lead to a loss of self-respect
I would say that A is a theme addressed in Jane Eyre. When Jane discovers that Rochester is already married, she decides to leave him. In doing so, she is put out of her home and becomes ill from being exposed to the elements. It would have been easier to stay with Rochester and marry him. She chose not too because she believes that marriage vows are important. Jane would be going against her own moral code if she stayed. Staying true to herself proved to be the more difficult choice.
