does the polynomial 32x^2+12x-57 have two complex roots?

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

try working out the discriminant b^2 - 4ac

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if\[\Delta<0\] The polynomial has two complex roots.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do I do that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so then it does have two complex roots

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right @D3xt3R

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The equation is:\[ax^2+bx+c=0\]\[\Delta=b^2-4ac\]If \[\Delta<0\]You should change the signal and put a "i²" together for example\[\Delta=-4\]So\[\Delta=4i^2\]and\[x=\frac{-b\pm\sqrt{\Delta}}{2a}\]
