OpenStudy (anonymous):

The volume V of a rectangular prism with length l, width w, and height h is v equals l times w times h. What is the width of a rectangular prism with volume 450 cubic inches, length 20 inches, and height 7.5 inches?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Have you tried to plug in what you know and then solve for what is left?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope not yet

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Well, I would start with that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont know how to start it off

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

"The volume V of a rectangular prism with length l, width w, and height h is v equals l times w times h" What is that as a formula with just letters?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Once you have that, you substitute in the numbers they give you in place of the correct letters.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you divide

OpenStudy (anonymous):

all the numbers first or mulitply

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Well, you solve as needed. You can do some multiplication, but because you are given the volume you will have to divide. You either multiply once then divide once, or divide twice. Your choice.
