Graph this rational function. Find the asymptotes, and find the domain and range.

OpenStudy (dumbsearch2):

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

graph 2/x then move it down 3

OpenStudy (dumbsearch2):

How do you graph 2/x?

OpenStudy (dumbsearch2):

I know how to graph it in this formula: y = a (1/(x-h)) + k...but what does the 2 do?

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

i would look more at what the 2 does to 1/x it multiplies everything by 2 so what was at 1 is now 2 what was at 2 is now 4 what was at 1/2 is now 1, so it "squeezes" 1/x

OpenStudy (dumbsearch2):

Do you mean that I should multiply 2 by the y coordinates?

OpenStudy (dumbsearch2):

For example, if I move the point from 1,1 down 3 units, then should I multiply the parent function y coordinate by 2?

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

try it

OpenStudy (dumbsearch2):

would this be right: 2,-2? But then, I multiplied the x coordinate...
