can any one explain how steel is more elastic than rubber?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u call something elastic when it can regain its original shape as fast as possible and that is directly related to what we call as MODULUS of elasticity and steel has extremely high compared to rubber..s o.. there u go!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can we say that poissons ratio for steel is greater than rubber?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ermm.. since its a ratio.. it has to be calculated.. more something stretches easily more the ratio ( i think :P) so rubber would have more..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but cant we say E is proportional to poisson ratio

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is E?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

modulus of elasticity
