Many studies have shown that women who are able to do self-hypnosis or visualization are able to control or lessen their birthing pain. What factors do you think are involved in self-hypnosis or visualization to reduce pain? @Nurali @Abhisar @Compassionate @myininaya @Destinymasha @hanner_B_nanner @Whitemonsterbunny17 @Destinymasha @razor99 @stabar @Secret-Ninja @hanner_B_nanner @Elsa213 @emmigrace222 @LearningIsAwesome
Is this and opinion based question or a poll of some kind?
Yes, opinion based question, what's your opinion? @Secret-Ninja
Well, the Placebo Effect is something you should consider. Also, the people with her, her environment, the temperature, lighting and sound play a big role.
That's very true Compassionate, I never thought of the lighting and sound
^ i was about to mention that. The Placebo Effect could play a big role in this. I do strongly believe in the "Mind over Matter" thing and i do think its possible to lessen to pain of childbirth, but at that time i doubt that they will be concentrating on their thoughts more than their body and pushing the infant out.
Hope that helped somehow. :]
Well, preparing that way would help control her emotions..and emotions are a HUGE impact on the way we take on pain.
Remember how hard it can be to study when it's hot, vs. a cooled area? The mind has trouble focusing because of OCD of the sweat and irritability of your skin. Sound makes it hard to concentrate You have an easier time being imaginative in the dark than in the light, which is why most people re-act events in their heads before sleeping.
Also on what @Compassionate said, the lighting and sound does impact the level of stress the woman can reach during childbirth, just like you get annoyed or stressed when you hear the same sound over and over or the lights are being flickered on and off repeatedly by a younger sibling. (Just a few examples)
Thank you all, I wish I could choose more than one best answer.
Thats alright. No medals needed, just help given. :)
The question isn't really asking about about her stress levels in particular, but what she can do, through the Placebo Effect, to lessen these things, and what are the facts.
