4 is 4^1 256 is 4^4 use the change of base formula to simplify well that is the way I would simplify there are other ways to look at it of course

Let x be the length of two sides perpendicular to the wall as shown. Write an equation of area A of the enclosure as a function of the length x of the rectangular area as shown in the above figure. Then find value(s) of x which the area is 5500ft^2
