Which biconditional is NOT a good definition? A. A whole number is even if and only if it is divisible by 2. B. A whole number is odd if and only if the number is not divisible by 2. C. An angle is straight if and only if its measure is 180. D. A ray is a bisector of an angle if and only if it splits the angle into two angles.
straight angle?
That seems like a good definition.
I dont know what a straight angle is....
A straight line... Lol It measures 180
Every one seems good in the forward direction. Since they all say "if and only if", each one should also work backwards, Can we correctly say: If a number is divisible by two, then it is even. If it is (it is) correct, then it is a correct biconditional. If not, it is not. @zzr0ck3r A straight angle is one that is not bent :), i.e. 180 degrees.
angles dont bent
bend*
lol!
never heard that term...but I get it:)
and yes if a whole number is even then it is divisible by 2 if whole number is divisible by 2 then it is even
I'm still confused... This is supposed to be geometry... not wordplay! Lol
Geometry and logic are closely related. Geometry proofs need logical thinking, of which Euclid is a master.
was:P
I still don't know the answer....they all seem fine to me.
Good point @mathmate . I guess that's why it's Euclidean geometry.
@zzr0ck3r Thanks. In my mind, his books live on.
touche
he might have figured out time travel, and he is actually here. if anyone could....
I would rather time travel back, then I can show them calculus! lol.
ha, its the last one @Leanybean
"D" is horrible. Never say that!
yeah I read it wrong. the last word is angle...
Anyway, it doesn't read backwards.
Sooo A or B is what I'm thinking...
^^^^ read up
B? Haha sorry I got confused with everyone answering at once :3
For B, the test is: "If a whole number is not divisible by two, then it's odd". Does that make sense? If it does, B is not the answer.
