Help Please?

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

The equation below shows the perimeter f(x) of several rectangular side tables having width x inches: f(x) = 24 + 2x The perimeter of each table is less than 50 inches. Which of the following best describes the domain of f(x)? All integers greater than 0 and less than 13 All integers greater than 0 and less than 50 All real numbers greater than 0 and less than 13 All real numbers greater than 0 and less than 50

OpenStudy (here_to_help15):

:P

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

Can someone show me how to do this plz?

OpenStudy (here_to_help15):

f(x) <=50 f(x) = 24 + 2x 50 <= 24 + 2x I've got the problem started, can you do the next steps to isolate x?

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

sure

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

\[74\le2x\] \[74\div2=37\] \[37\le~x\]

OpenStudy (here_to_help15):

wait a sec?

OpenStudy (here_to_help15):

wouldn't u subtract 24 not add?

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

whoops lol

OpenStudy (here_to_help15):

yeah hahaha :)

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

\[26\le2x\]\[26\div2\]\[13\]\[13\le~x\]

OpenStudy (here_to_help15):

yeah :P

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

So which one iz it?

OpenStudy (here_to_help15):

lemme see :P

OpenStudy (here_to_help15):

i would mostly believe that it would be A,but do not be to sure.

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

i need to be 100% sure

OpenStudy (here_to_help15):

well we have to decide between an integer or real number hmmm

OpenStudy (here_to_help15):

i feel like i failed:(

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

You should get x<=13 from that inequality, and since the width can't be negative x is greater than 0 and less than 13.

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

what does <= look like? \[\ge \]or \[\le \]

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

The second.

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

Oh ok so i did it wrong lol... So what is the next step after tht

OpenStudy (here_to_help15):

I did it wrong :'(

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

Well that's it, there is no next step. The solution is all the real numbers greater than 0 and less that 13.

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

Oh ok thank You @math&ing001! I really Appreciate it

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

Anytime !

OpenStudy (here_to_help15):

:( sorry if i couldnt help all the way
