Due to imperialism, the economy in China was boosting. China's wealth was intriguing to Britain, France, Russia, Japan, and many other nations. If China was colonized, it would be easy for them to create trade routes. China gained power and money from goods. China was given many things because of imperialism. Imperialism is also impacting the culture of China as well. Since China's power was becoming extended, PEOPLE from all over Europe started to live there, and the culture in China became more diverse. China would not have advanced the way it has now without imperialism.

Actually, it had little benefits for China. It scarred them and that is why they have trouble getting out of a third-world state and have democracy. The question asks from a European's perspective. As such, it would be wise to tell how it benefited the Europeans, not the Chinese.
So, it benefited them through the trade they were asking for for years. They wanted uninterrupted routes to India, but found it hard when the China was closed off. They also wanted a lot of the things China had, like silk, textiles, and whatnot, so instead of trying to trade with them (which didn't work since China didn't need the trade), they decided a new approach. Opium. This started the opium wars, but also let on to the open borders, and soon, rich and opportunist Europeans were getting their hands on whatever they wanted, without needing to pay in full.
I would suggest either making this from an Englishman's or a Frenchman's point of view. The English will be easier, though the French won't be hard. You should also be a trader, who has ventured through China to get to India, and talk about how much easier it is for you. Also, don't show too many negative aspects of the trade. Act as if the Chinese were barbaric (the same way they thought of First Nations) and were only addicted to opium. Make fun of their ways and how it is better they are being 'Westernized'.
