here is a work problem with a rational equation. It takes me 6 months to sew a quilt. But, it takes my mother 2 months to sew the same type of quilt. How long will it take for my mother and I to sew the quilt together? My answer is this.. (1/2)+(1/6)= 1/x (3x/6x)+(x/6x)= 6/6x 3x+x=6 (4x/4)=(6/4) x=1 and 1/2 so does that mean it will take them 1 month and 2 weeks together?? I'm not sure how to answer this.
