does any math corse require to memorize pi 3.14 like the rest of the numbers?

OpenStudy (juanpablojr):

hmmm well I only used 3.141 more the most part but try to know 3.14159265 it might come handy someday :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not really, most of the time you use a calculator

OpenStudy (mathmale):

You definitely should know that pi is usually given the value 3.14 in approximate work (that is, work accurate to two decimal places). I've used 3.14159 for decades, but that's more accurate than is usually necessary.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Many college classes expect you to know \(\pi\) and \(e\) to 6 significant digits. Not just math. There are engineering and physics classes where they expect you to be able to do estimates without any help from a calculator.
