First step: Write the coordinates of each of the vertices. To find the area of the figure, it may be easier to enclose the whole figure in a rectangle and then subtract the four triangles such as: triangle AFE, etc.

Find the area of rectangle AJKG Find the area of the triangles AFE, EGD, DKC, CBJ. Add the areas of the triangles and subtract it from the area of the rectangle to get the area of the figure. Since the scale of the graph is 1:1, you can determine the lengths of the sides of rectangle, the side and height of the triangles simply by counting the grid lines.
