I used one throughout high school and found it extremely useful. Although we were encouraged to learn how to do all the work by hand and use the calculator simply to check our answers (how many students actually did learn the work by hand though I don't know). In the exam doing all the work on the calculator helped save time and also helped to get more accurate answers (I know I wouldn't have passed math without one). Get one (I have a Casio fx-9750G PLUS) but make sure you do learn how to calculate your work by hand (in case your batteries run out during the exam - it does happen) and also to check that your exams do not have calculator restrictions. You don't want to learn all the work on a calculator only to find out at the last minute that you wont be allowed to take that calculator into the exam with you (yes - this also does happen).

It can save answers for homework, yeah. If you meant exams, some teachers are extremely strict about bringing a scientific calculator to class. So make sure what calculator does your teacher prohibit or allows you to use.

OpenStudy (zale101):

I own a ti-84 plus and i only use it for homework to check off my answers or during lecture but i have never used on exams. It's up to your class.

OpenStudy (juanpablojr):

thanks everyone
