Can someone help me?? Fan and medal (Geometry) Octagon ABCDEFGH and its dilation, octagon A'B'C'D'E'F'G'H', are shown on the coordinate plane below

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If the center of dilation is at the origin, by what scale factor was octagon ABCDEFGH dilated

OpenStudy (anonymous):

one half 2 4 one quarter

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The scale factor is \(\displaystyle \frac{X'}{X}\) where you can choose \(X\) to be any point which is scaled except for the origin. If you choose \(X = A\), the scale factor is \(\displaystyle\frac{A'}{A} = \frac{(6, 2)}{(3, 1)} = \frac{2(3, 1)}{(3, 1)} = 2\).

Thank you so much, ive been struggling in geometry for a while and people just usually give me answers and i never understand how to do it. Thanks for taking your time to help me!!

No problem =)

Would you mind helping me with one more or are you busy?

First find GA. Then find the scale factor going from EM to E'M' and apply that factor to GA.
