During inhalation u breathe in during which diaphragm contracts downwards and inter coastal muscles contract lifting the ribs causing the volume of thoracic activity to increase and the pressure to decrease causing air to flow from higher pressure outside to lower pressure inside the body whereas during exhalation when u breathe out inter coastal muscles relax causing the volume of thoracic activity to decrease and pressure to increase causing air to flow. Out of lungs from higher pressure inside to lower pressure outside the body
