Please help, True or false Braking is a result of between the brake linings and your foot

To be honest, I don't quite understand that sentence. Braking if when you 'brake' or stop the car. Usually the brake is the left (I think, I do not drive) pedal in the car. You press your foot down on it to stop the car from moving forward.

The sentence kind of describes this but also not. It could be either in my opinion. Hopefully someone will see this question and explain better than I. For now, Ill say true though I'm quite hesitant.
