how can i prove that cot x sec x= cscx

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

I recommend you convert everything over to expressions in terms of sine and cosine first

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

cot = cos/sin sec = 1/cos csc = 1/sin

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i did that but i am still lost

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

on the left side, what cancels?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[csc(x)=\frac{1}{sin(x)}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[cot(x)*sec(x)=\frac{cos(x)}{sin(x)}*\frac{1}{cos(x)}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you explain how that works

OpenStudy (anonymous):

never mind i got it...thanks!
