State whether the triangles are similar. If so, write a similarity statement and the postulate or theorem you used. A. TriangleABD ~ Triangle CBD, SAS~ B. ABD ~ CBD, SAS~ C. ADB ~ CDB, SSS~ D. The triangles are not similar.

What do the two methods of proving triangles similar listed in the choices, SAS~ and SSS~, mean?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Side Angle Side Similarity and Side Side Side Similarity

Sorry I couldn't continue helping yesterday, but i lost connection and wasn't able to get back on.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Good. You know those two methods.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Now look at the figure and the two triangles you want to prove similar. You know two corresponding sides are congruent. That is S. You know two corresponding angles are congruent. That is A. So far you have SA. Does this look you are getting closer to SSS or to SAS? Finally, whichever one it you can use, if you really can use it, you still need one more pair of corresponding parts? Can you see another pair of sides or angles that you can tell are congruent?
