HELP? The area of a poster board is x2 + 3x - 10 inches. The width is x - 2 inches. Find the dimensions of the poster board when x = 14.

The area is 228. Use it to find the dimensions.

How would I do that? Sorry I haven't learned this.

First we want to factor \(x^2+3x-10\), to find the length. We already know that one of them is, so to find the length we find what number 2x=-10, and added together=3, in this case it is -5. So factored it is \((x+5)(x-2)\) so now we know the Length is x+5 and the width is x-2 We plug in 14, \((14+5)x(14-2)\)
