Well, it appears there are two shaded RIGHT TRIANGLES. How do you find the area of a triangle?

are of a triangle is A=1/2*base*height so base is 3 and height is 3 in both triangles, you can see them on the figures, ex. in the fig one, the base line starts from 1 to 4 which means the base line is 3 the same way you find the other dimensions and then just add the triangles areas and find the area of the shaded regions
