OpenStudy (astrophysics):

Multiply both sides by \[\sqrt{x-7}\] to begin with so you'll have \[\sqrt{2x}=3\sqrt{x-7}\]

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

Then eliminate square roots on both sides by squaring both expressions \[(\sqrt{2x})^2=(3\sqrt{x-7})^2 \implies 2x = 9(x-7)\]

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

Expand the right side \[2x = 9x-63\] collect like terms \[-7x = -63\] divide by -7 \[x= \frac{- 63 }{- 7 } = 9\]
