Solve x – 4 = –7. A. x = 3 B. x = –3 C. x = 11 D. x = –11

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

Hey, what you want to do here is add 4 on both sides, why? Because you want to isolate x as it asks, so to do that you want to get rid of the -4 on the left side, by doing it's opposite to cancel it out. \[x-4+4=-7+4\] \[x= -7+4 \implies -3\]
