Geometry question, medal and fan :) The figure shows three right triangles. Triangles JKM, KLM, and JLK are similar. Theorem: If two triangles are similar, the corresponding sides are in proportion. (Image attached) Using the given theorem, which two statements help to prove that if segment JL is x, then x2 = 100? A) Segment JL x segment JM = 64 Segment JL x segment LM = 48 B) Segment JL x segment JM = 48 Segment JL x segment LM = 36 C) Segment JL x segment JM = 64 Segment JL x segment LM = 36 D) Segment JL x segment JM = 36 Segment JL x segment LM = 64

OpenStudy (andriod09):

Hey chaotic, first thing first: what do you think the equation is for this question?

OpenStudy (andriod09):

Wait, my bad; I misread the question. :S

OpenStudy (chaotic_butterflies):

I was going to say I don't think that's how you work it out. However, I've always had problems with reading comprehension. I'm honestly not sure what they're asking of me.

OpenStudy (andriod09):

Same here, truth be told. All its asking is which of the answers prove that segment JL in the Triangle JKL (the hypotenuse, if you want to look at it like that) is 100. They rename JL as "x" for the equation purpose, which says: "Double 'x' and you have the length".

OpenStudy (andriod09):

Of course, I'm not sure why they have it multiplying different segments, so I'm a little lost there. :S

OpenStudy (chaotic_butterflies):

Common core for ya -_- But I think I'm following along so far.

OpenStudy (andriod09):

No Offence to you, you seem smart, but COMMON CORE SUCKKKKSSSSSSSSSS!

OpenStudy (chaotic_butterflies):

No I'm completely on the same boat, the only reason I'm taking this class is so I can get my math credits out of the way.

OpenStudy (andriod09):

I'm honestly just going to say D, because that's what I get. :S Not completely sure if that's right or not. :(

OpenStudy (chaotic_butterflies):

That's what someone else said but they had absolutely no idea why. Thanks for trying to help out though, I appreciated it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not sure but I think it's A

OpenStudy (chaotic_butterflies):

@andriod09 the last comment sounded so serious so here's a smiley face to balance it out XD :)

OpenStudy (andriod09):

I don't follow, but thanks for being happy you can't answer you question! :P xD

OpenStudy (chaotic_butterflies):

Lol
